Shocking as Gunmen abduct Catholic priest in Benue state


Alleged shooters have abducted a Catholic priest, Pastor Father David Echioda, in the Otukpo area of the state of Benue.

According to reports, Reverend Echioda was abducted along Alla-Akpa Road on his return from Sunday Mass to Utonkon, the state's Ado Local Government Area on Sunday, March 1.


The Director of Information, Catholic Diocese, Otukpo, Pastor Father John Okopopu, who confirmed this to the newsmen, said the victim returned from missionary work when he was abducted.

      "It is true that he returned from the Alla-Akpa road when he was abducted. Unfortunately, the kidnappers still have to contact the family or someone, "said Okopopu

State police spokesperson, DSP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the abduction, said the police are investigating the case.
