Photo: 5 Abuja residents arrested over false claim of contracting coronavirus

5 residents of Abuja were arrested and paraded by police in the Federal Capital Territory for invading Wuse General Hospital with false claims that they had contracted Coronavirus.


The Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Anjuguri Manza, who parried the five suspects for the newsmen, gave their names as Peggy Shandi (M), Abayomi Adedoyin (M), David Gold Enemigin (M) Priscilla AJesola (F) and Jacob Oji ( M)


According to DSP Anjuguri, the suspects claimed to play a script about the virus without the knowledge or permission of the relevant authorities of the (FCTA.)

Vanguard stated that the alleged joke makers reportedly went to Wuse District Hospital and claimed that one of them was infected with the Corona virus, an action that led to fear and confusion and a disruption to the normal delivery of hospital health services.

The police spokesman said the investigation into the activities of the suspects was ongoing.


One of the suspects Peggy Shandi said their action was just a joke about the corona virus.

The FCT police command said it was still investigating the case and that the suspects would be tried at the conclusion.
