Man Dies in the middle of Jumat prayer at Sokoto Mosque



A 71-year-old man identified as Malam Ahmad Abdullahi died in the Sultan Bello Mosque in Sokoto on Friday, February 21, while observing the weekly Juma'at prayers with other worshipers.
Abdullahi who went to a nearby store to buy a knife to shave in preparation for the Juma's prayers, threw himself down to observe the second raka'at, but he never got up to continue with the rite.

The deceased survived by a wife and three children allegedly paid a condolence visit to his relatives in the Filin Magaji area in the Gidadawa community, a few hours before his death.


Mallama Halima, who had been married to Abdullahi for 34 years, told her husband's last moment;


    “He went to the mosque in the company of our grandchild, and that was my last interaction with him.

    “A few moments after the Juma prayer, I heard some noise in the neighborhood and people struggle with something heavy. I was asked to enter the inner room and give them some privacy.

    “I stopped. People came in with his corpse and started asking me to leave everything to Allah. They said it was Allah's will that he die in such a way. I collapsed immediately.

    “During the 34 years we spent together, we never argued, not even for a day. He meant everything to me. "



She also revealed that she woke up and felt sick and restless on the day her husband died. Halima added;



    "As i woke up with a fever and could not do anything. So I leaned back in bed and wondered what could be wrong with me that day."
