Manchester United's boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has categorically stated that Nemanja Matic, midfielder, would not leave the club in January's transfer window amid reports linking the 31-year-old to a movement to join Jose Mourinho's Tottenham Hotspur.
Matic has recently been associated with a move to Tottenham this month.
This season the Serbian international got out of the XI of the Red Devils and got out of favor under manager Solskjaer.
The former Chelsea is now considered surplus to requirements, leaving Old Trafford after ScoMcTominay, Fred and Paul Pogba in the pecking order of Solskjaer.
But Solskjaer has now insisted that Matic stay this window in the club.
"Nemanja will stay," Solskjaer was quoted by Metro UK as saying for Man FA's FA Cup third round clash with Wolves on Saturday night.
"He has worked hard to come back and now he is here and playing well.
"There is always a chance for [a new contract], of course there is. It is what you do on the field that the deciding factor is there.
"If someone drops out, you have to be ready and take your chance and I think he did well."
Matic recently admitted that he could leave Man United in January's transfer window.
He said: "I don't know what to say. I have a contract for another six months, we will see what will happen in January.
"Shall I extend the contract or try to find something else?" United has an option to extend my contract, but we'll see if the club's plans match my plans.
"I couldn't say anything anymore because I don't really know either.
