Cristiano Ronaldo beats Lionel Messi to another landmark, by getting huge recognition as 20 athletes of decade reavealed (see full list)

Cristiano Ronaldo is ranked above his arch-rival Lionel Messi in Sky Sports' list of decade athletes, with tennis superstar Rafael Nadal shockingly omitted in the controversial rankings.

The Portuguese ace is the only football player in the top three to rank tennis player Serena Williams in the top scene of the decade thanks to her relentless dominance and influence in female tennis.

Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton achieved second place after winning five Formula 1 championships.

Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi was remarkably fourth behind the Juventus star, despite a successful season that was awarded by FIFA the best prize and the sixth Ballon d'Or.

Retired boxer, Floyd Mayweather, completed the top five places after his mega fight with Manny Pacquiao and Irish UFC star Conor McGregor.

World tennis number 1 Nadal was left out controversially, but world number 2 Novak Djokovic reached the rankings due to his 62 ATP tournament and 14 Grand Slam victories in the last decade.
